Snow Nose
People don’t know that a strange fact about dogs is that some have a genetic predisposition to a condition called “snow nose” where the pigmentation on their nose turns lighter in color during the winter months.
This is caused by a lack of melanin, the pigment that gives color to the nose, and is most commonly seen in breeds with black or dark colored noses such as the Labrador Retriever. The condition is not harmful, and the nose color usually returns to normal in the spring or summer months.
