In the fall of 2017, Hurricane Harvey hit the city of Houston, Texas, causing widespread devastation and flooding. Many people and animals were displaced from their homes and in need of rescue. A team of volunteers from Austin Pets Alive, a non-profit organization that helps save animals from euthanasia, headed to Houston to help with the rescue effort.

One of the dogs they rescued was a six-month-old mixed breed puppy named Pippin. Pippin was found stranded on a rooftop, surrounded by floodwaters. The team of volunteers waded through the waist-deep water to reach him, and he was visibly scared and shivering with cold. They scooped him up and brought him to safety.

Pippin was taken to Austin Pets Alive’s shelter in Austin, where he was examined by a veterinarian. Despite his ordeal, he was found to be in good health. However, he was still very frightened and would cower in fear whenever someone approached him.

The staff at Austin Pets Alive knew that Pippin needed a lot of love and attention to help him overcome his fear. They worked with him every day, giving him plenty of food, water, and toys. They also introduced him to other dogs, hoping that he would learn to socialize and become more confident.

Over time, Pippin began to come out of his shell. He would wag his tail when a staff member approached, and he would even nuzzle their hand. He loved to play with other dogs, and he would run and jump around the play yard with them. The staff members were overjoyed to see Pippin’s progress, and they knew that he was ready for his next big step: finding a forever home.

One day, a woman named Sarah came to the shelter looking for a dog to adopt. She had recently lost her beloved dog, and she was eager to give another dog a loving home. When she met Pippin, she was immediately taken with his sweet nature and gentle demeanor. She knew that Pippin was the perfect dog for her.

Sarah adopted Pippin and took him home to her cozy apartment in Austin. She gave him plenty of love and attention, and she worked with him on his training. Pippin quickly adjusted to his new home, and he loved to play with Sarah’s other dog, a black lab named Sammy. He would run around the apartment with Sammy and play tug-of-war with him. He also loved to snuggle with Sarah on the couch and watch TV with her.

Today, Pippin is a happy and healthy dog who has found his forever home. He is no longer stranded on a rooftop, and he has plenty of love and attention from his new family. He still enjoys playing with other dogs, and he has even made some new friends at the local dog park.
