Ear Movement
Some dogs have a special muscle in their ears that allows them to move their ears independently, which can help them locate the source of a sound more accurately. This muscle, called the auricular muscle, is unique to dogs and allows them to move their ears in different directions to pinpoint the source of a sound.
This is particularly useful for hunting and tracking, as it allows dogs to locate prey or other objects of interest more quickly and accurately. This heightened sense of hearing also makes dogs more sensitive to loud noises and can cause them distress.
