Submissive Urination
Submissive urination in dogs is a behavior where a dog urinates when feeling submissive or anxious. This can happen when the dog is approached or greeted by people or other dogs, or when scolded or punished. It’s a normal behavior in puppies, but can continue into adulthood.
This behavior can be distressing for the dog and can be mistaken for a house-training issue, but it is a behavioral problem. Submissive urination can be treated through positive reinforcement training, building the dog’s confidence and providing them with a sense of security.
